Marketing to the Conglomerates

As with the other Conglomerates, each imprint here should be marketed as if they were independent publishers.  Most of News Corporation’s imprints accept query letters sent by mail. They however need to be addressed to the editor by name.  You can get the names by consulting Jeff Herman’s Guide to Publishers, Editors, and Literary Agents. This is the guide you need to use when marketing your book.

News Corporation.

HarperCollins Publisher

News Corporation, owned by Rupert Murdoch, has a number of subsidiaries including HarperCollins.  It publishes a tremendous number of books each year and is a good place for the author to start his campaign to place his book.  This publisher has a very diverse list of commercial, trade, professional, academic and mass-market books.  HarperCollins prefers working through agents, but many of its imprints will look at queries submitted by the author
