When I first started teaching writing I ran into a paradox. Many people who could write well never sold a single article or book. Yet a number of my adult students who werent nearly as good sold repeatedly.

One lady told me she was going to sell if it was the last thing she did. I was sure it was going to be the last thing. But before the class was over she had sold six articles and an editor asked to see one of her book ideas.

This opened my eyes. I had long known that an article must be targeted to a magazines needs and a book to a target reader and a publisher. But everything this woman wrote was awful. It was however exactly what that paticular magazine or publisher needed.

This incident and a number of other similar ones caused me to formulate what I call "Newcombs Rules One Two and Three."

Newcombs Rule Number One says;Anyone who can write a clear sentence can learn to write salable articles and books.

Newcombs Rule Number Two states. Every article must be target slanted directly to the magazine you want to hit or to a publisher looking for your material. No writing for writings sake.

My next problem was to translate this into a system beginning writers could use and that more advanced writers could put to work to help them increase sales.

The result was what my classes laughingly called "The Newcomb Method. And thats the method this web site will cover to help put your writing in high gear.

Does the system work? You bet it does. Not only have I sold several thousand articles and over 32 books but my students have done better than I expected. A number of beginners sold their first 40 articles without a rejection. A few received book advances of $100000 plus. Altogether they have now sold over 7 million dollars worth of articles and books.

What they have done you can do to. Above all keep writing. Writing like other professions has its ups and downs. But I have learned from experience that if you are determined to make it you will.

And that leads me to Newcombs Rule No. Three: Writing for publication is 90% Determination and 10% Talent.

This website will take you where you want to go by providing a wealth of information about writing and selling articles and about writing selling and publicizing your non-fiction book.

May you have a wonderful time and much good luck on your journey.
